the meeting to order at 19:30 hours.

Host, Chief Lorne Doherty welcomed everyone and introduced the Reeve
John McCrae who also welcomed everyone.
2.0 Guest Speakers
| 2.1 Dave Shaw and Murray Ferguson from the Brockville
chapter of the Canadian Aid for Chernobyl thanked the Augusta
Fire Department for donating various fire equipment to be outfitted
on a 1982 Tanker Truck that was purchased from the Fire Department
for $6,200. Augusta Fire Chief Lorne Dougherty said firefighters
wanted to add extra value to the 4,540-litre (1,000-gallon) 1982
tanker truck after learning CAC was the high bidder for the vehicle.
Rick Walker of 1000 Islands Toyota had donated the money to purchase
the truck. The donations will help a depressed country where residents
trying to stay warm in winter fear few things as much as fire. |
| 2.2 Sam Masanotti from the CN Police Services gave a
short presentation railway crossing safety and the recommended
procedures that should be followed when approaching a railway
crossing in an emergency situation. The number to call in case
of an emergency on the railway is 1-800-465-9239. Sam indicated
that when calling in, give the railway crossing number that is
located on the end of the railway crossing arm or on structure
that may be at the crossing. This number is the only way the call
taker can identify what crossing you are at. |
