Ten departments were represented, with 35 current members
in attendance and 3 honorary members. President, Tim Tedford at 19:30
hours, called the meeting to order.
1.0 Introduction
Host, Chief Ron Barber and Mayor Doug Struthers welcomed everyone
and introduced the suppliers and quests present.
2.0 Guest Speaker Claude Boyer
of AJ Stone
Gave a brief presentation on HAZMAT unit used to identify
substances and hazardous substances. The is a 3 day training course
on the unit at a cost of approximately $1,800 per person.
3.0 Adoption of Minutes
The minutes dated November 12, 2002 were adopted.

Thank you card from Ken Baker regarding his appreciation
for the recognition at his retirement party from the Mutual Aid Association.

6.2 Fire Prevention Dan Prest
Presented proposed budget for 2003, asking for an increase in levy
from Mutual Aid Assocition of $1,100 for a total levy of $5,000. This
would bring them back to the levy they had received 5 years ago
6.3 Training- Brian Normandin
The trainers committee presented there budget for the 2003 year. They
are requesting the same levy as 2002.
They will be holding an Legislation 101 course sometime in the near
future, date is to be confirmed.
Are planning to hold a Trainer/Facilitator course sometime in the
fall. Dates to be announced once they have been confirmed.
The first responder course held at the end of November was well attend
with approximately. As well the pump operators course held in the
fall was well attended.
7.0 Coordinators Report- Chief Peter Mulvihill
Chief Peter Mulvihill
1. Mutual reports there have been no mutual aid reports
since last meeting. Departments are reminded to get these reports
into Peter.
2. Decontamination Team - The issue of a decontamination team
will be discussed at the next chiefs meeting and more information
will follow when available.
3. Mutual Aid Plans to date Peter has only received 10 plans,
a reminder to all chiefs that these plans must be submitted before
the plans can go any further.
Deputy Chief Harry Jones
1. Clandestine Drug Lab Awareness Seminar Brockville will host
an awareness seminar on February 19, 20003. There will be a 8 hour
day session and a 4 hour evening session. Anyone interested is asked
to contact the Brockville Fire Department.
2. 10 year smoke detectors they have installed new batteries
in some of the detectors, they have once again been returned, therefore
problem has not been remedied. This will be an on-going issue.

9.0 Unfinished Business
9.1 Chief Ken Baker
A motion was put forth at the November 12, 2002 meeting to have Chief
Ken Baker made a honorary member of the Mutual Aid Association. Being
no opposition to the motion Chief Ken Baker has been made a honorary
member of the Mutual Aid Association.
9.2 Multi-Media Projector
Large carrying case at the cost of approximately $390 has been purchased
for unit. The wireless remote and laser pointer has been ordered but
has not yet arrived.
9.3 Committee Year end reports
The Fire Prevention committee and Trainers committee have submitted
their 2002 year end reports and budgets for 2003.
10.0 New Business
10.1 Suggestions for improving attendance: Attendance
at the mutual aid meetings have been dropping over the last little
while. It was opened up to the floor as to any suggestions on how
to increase attendance and get more support from membership.

10.2 Fire Prevention Trophies: Many of the trophies have not been
given out over the past few years and with the move to a memorial
day parade rather than a Fire Prevention Parade it was moved:
That all trophies be given back to the original donor or sponsor of
the trophy or in the case that the donor is no longer around or does
not want the trophy that the department that has won the particular
trophy the most be given the trophy to keep.
