10 departments were represented, with 42 current members in attendance and 3 honorary members. President, Tim Tedford called the meeting to order at 19:30 hours.

1.0 Introduction
Chief John Struthers welcomed everyone and introduced quests. He introduced Councillor William Morris who welcomed everyone. Mr. Morris was once a member of the Delta Fire Department and it had been sometime since he had attended one of our meetings. He introduced Mayor Ron Holman who welcomed everyone to Westport.

No quest speaker was available for tonight's meeting.

The minutes of the January 10, 2006 meeting were read.

6.2 Fire Prevention - Brian Normandin
Looking at purchasing a 911 simulator in 2006 for used Public Education in schools and at community events

Looking for new members to join the Senior Fire Safety committee

Moving ahead with new Risk watch curriculum, Canadianized version. Some confusion as to amount of support from School Board in its implementation.

6.3 Training - Wayne Shields
Emergency Patient Care 1 course being held in Gananoque the weekends of March 24 - 26 and April 7 - 9th

Looking at setting up a Z endorsement course sometime in April if there is enough interest

Discussed setting up a First Aid/CPR course a signup sheet will be sent around once course date and have been established

There will be a Train-the-Trainer Pumper Operations course in Brockville May 4, 5, 6, 7th 2006

There will be a Pumper Operations course in Brockville on May 26-28th and June 10-11th.

There are 2 ISM Course being offered in 2006 the Theory portion will be held at Rideau Lakes Fire Department, with the practical done at the Brockville Training Tower. The dates are as follows:

Theory Portion April 1st and 2nd 2006
Practical April 8th & 9th or April 22nd & 23rd

Theory Portion September 23rd and 24th
Practical September 30th and October 1st or
October 7th and 8th

7.0 Coordinators Report- Chief Harry Jones

There were 4 activations for Mutual Aid since the last meeting

Noel Vaillancourt will be the OFM advisor for this area, he will be making an effort to try and get out and meet all the chiefs and departments in Leeds and Grenville over the next few months.

Chief Jones has asked all chiefs to provide a new vehicle and equipment list

Chief Jones had mentioned there was possibly interest in purchasing a Fit Testing Machine jointly amongst all the departments, cost of machine is approximately $15,000 - $17,000 and will be discussed at next chiefs meeting

Asked who designed website and who was the Webmaster, noticed that his home number was on there and others, thought there was information on there that shouldn't be. Brian Normandin asked all departments to review website and provided Tom with updated information to get website up to date. Tom will be retiring and will need to look at new webmaster.

Bernie Moyle - Ontario Fire Marshall was trying to secure funding to provide every school with a copy of the CD's for the new Riskwatch curriculum.

All positions were declared vacant. Coordinator Chief Jones, conducted the election with the assistance of Chief Jim Donovan.

Being no further nominations, Jim accepted his nomination and was acclaimed as the new President

Position of Vice-President

Being no further nominations, Wayne accepted his nomination and was acclaimed as the new Vice-President

Position of Secretary/Treasurer

Being no further nominations, Brian accepted his nomination and was acclaimed as the new Secretary /Treasurer

Being no further nominations, Charles and Jim accepted their nominations and were acclaimed as Directors

Chief Harry Jones acknowledged and thanked Tim Tedford and Brian Normandin for there work on the executive committee over the past few years and acknowledge the new executive for accepting there positions.

Jim Grant, new President resumed the meeting and thanked everyone for his nomination. He was on the executive of the Mutual Aid Association a number of years ago, he hadn't anticipated being on the executive again but looks forward to serving as President for another term.

10.1 Fire Fatality

Chief Jones discussed the recent fatality in a recent apartment building fire last week in Brockville, there were 2 battery operated smoke detectors in the apartment and 2 in the adjacent apartment as well as 1 in the stairwell, none of the smoke detectors were working. Chief Jones stressed that had they been working they may have prevented the death of the tenant. The cause was determined to be careless smoking, the occupant had made an attempt to escape the apartment but was overcome by smoke.
The prosecutors for the United Counties have advised staff that they will assist in prosecuting cases.
