the meeting to order at 19:30 hours.

Host, Chief Peter Mulvihill welcomed everyone, and introduced the
quests and quest speaker.

its potential and capabilities.

5.0 Correspondence
Letter from the Ontario Provincial Police congratulating
Mr Bill Vander Velde of the Augusta Fire Department on his nomination
to receive the Ontario Provincial Police Commissioner's Citation for
Lifesaving as well as being nominated to receive an award from St.
John Ambulance. Bill Vander Velde is being recognized for rescuing
an older couple trapped in a van following a collision at an intersection
in Elizabethtown-Kitley Township on August 18, 2003; and he also assisted
in the apprehension of the fleeing driver from the other vehicle involved
in the collision.

6.1 Health & Welfare

6.2 Fire Prevention - Brian Normandin
· The committee had there election of the
executive at the last meeting, Greg Healy - Brockville is the
new Chairman, Dave Balderson - Gananoque remained as the vice-chair,
and Don Driscoll - Merrickville remained the secretary/treasurer.
· The National Fire & Life Safety Foundation has
donated funding for "Loot Bags" to the committee
· Wednesday June 3, 2004 is the next Eastern Ontario
Fire Prevention meeting to be held in Gananoque.
· The next fire prevention committee meeting will be
held Thursday March 11, 2004 at Elizabethtown-Kitley Station

6.3 Training - Wayne Shields
· Will be requesting the same budget levy
as for 2003 of $1,600
· Setting up a hydro-carbon course for May 21, 22, and
23 of 2004, course information was sent out, anyone interested
in attending this course should have their department respond
to Scott Tedford
· Setting up a Farm Rescue course to be held September
11 and 12 2004
· Defensive driving course to be held May 8, 2004 at
station #2 in Brockville.
· New Technology seminar to be held May 15, 2004 at Elizabethtown-Kitley
Station #1 in Lyn
· Sign up sheets will be coming out for all course mentioned.
· The EOAE symposium will be held in Lansdowne June 3,
4 and 5th.

7.0 Coordinators Report- Peter Mulvihill
Deputy Chief Harry Jones attended the Coordinators course.
At the coordinators course there was some discussion on the certification
of Don Buffet regarding training and examining firefighters for the
DZ license. A response from the Ministry should be received shortly.
The next Zone 6 meeting is April 8, 2004.
8.0 Unfinished Business

8.1 Wood Burning Seminar - held February
12, 2004 at the Brockville Memorial Centre was attended by approximately
200 people.
8.2 2004 Firefighters Memorial Parade -
the National Firefighters Memorial Parade to be held in Ottawa
in September 12, 2004. We will look at the possibility of arranging
for a couple of buses to coordinate transportation to the parade
of our members wishing to attend.

10.1 Ontario Association Fire Chiefs Conference
- to be held the week beginning May 8, 2004. A.J. Stone will
be hosting a pre-OAFC open house and luncheon on May 8, 2004
from noon to 2:00 PM at A.J. Stone Company Head Office, 141
Bentworth Ave, shuttle will be available from the OAFC Hotel.
10.2 Fire Chief's Shoot - there will be
a skeet shoot to be held Sunday April 18, 2004, starting at
9:00 AM.

Tuesday May 18, 2004 - 19:30 hours
Edwardsburg/Cardinal Station #2 (Cardinal).
Note the meeting date has been moved back a week from
may 11, to accommodate the OAFC conference.
