8.0 Fire Protection Advisor Report - Noel Vaillancourt

Noel talked about new requirements for truck drivers with MTO. If a truck driver is performing firefighting duties they would require 8hrs rest before they could drive again. He recommends going to council to express concern and pass on complaints to the OFM so they can pass on to government.
Noel said water rescue is not in our bylaws for firefighting. If it is not in your bylaws and something happens you could be responsible individually and not covered by Occupational Health and Safety. Fire Departments has been charged in the past. Need to have a policy in place and proper training. Use caution and don't publicize this service.
Everyone passed the Basic Fire Prevention Course.

There will be a Holiday Safety Ad for cottages etc. going in the paper dealing with things like fireworks safety.
OFM Communiques should be passed on by the chief to members. Latest Communique was on farm safety. There is a checklist and various safety tips on the site.
