10 departments were represented, with 48 current members in attendance and 3 honorary members. President, Tim Tedford at 19:30 hours, called the meeting to order.

1.0 Introduction
Host, Chief John Struthers welcomed everyone and introduced the guests. Reeve Bill Thake welcomed everyone. BrotherThomas Dorberd spoke a few words on his involvement with the Westport Fire Department.

2.0 Guest Speakers

Claude Boyer - AJ Stone Company - gave a presentation on Hazmat calls and containment of hazardous spills.

3.0 Adoption of Minutes

The minutes dated May 13, 2003 were adopted.

8.0 Fire Protection Advisor's Report - Peter O'Hare

Tapp C workshop - a coalition approach

Basic Fire Prevention Course - do one on a regional basis (in a couple of counties). If interested in attending contact Peter.

Peter brought pictures from a couple of years ago regarding years of service awards. See Peter after meeting to pick up pictures.

9.0 Unfinished Business

9.1 Memorial Parade - October 5, 2003 in Gananoque at the St. John's Catholic Churc, reception to follow after service. Will march from the recreation center. Parade to start at 1:30 P.M. and service will be at 2:00 PM

Invitations and more details to be sent out by the end of the week.

9.2 Honorary Member - a letter was received at the last meeting to nominate Henry Smid of the Athens Fire Department as honorary member of the Mutual Aid Association.

10.0 New Business

10.1 Memorial Parade - Request for funds for the band. Motion to approve $600.00 to pay for the band for the Memorial Parade in Gananoque.

10.2 The Kemptville Fire Department has purchased a Thermal Imaging camera, costing approximately $25,000. The Kemptville Fire Department received $5,000.00 from the Grenville Mutual Insurance Company's Community Fund.

The camera is available for use upon request.

10.3 Honorary Member - a request to have Jim Plumley of the Brockville fire department made and honorary member of this committee. Jim has retired from the Brockville Fire Department and has served more than 35 years in the fire service, and was the master trainers facilitator for Leeds and Grenville.

To be voted on at next meeting.

10.4 Ottawa Memorial Service - Harold Workman, Kemptville Fire department spoke about the poor attendance and lack of representation from Leeds and Grenville.

10.5 Honorary Members - Chief Jim Purcell, had discussed alternatives to recognizing honorary members. Suggested a plaque could be made up listing all honorary members to be displayed at meetings. Deferred for further discussion at next meeting.


11.0 Announcements

11.1 Open House - Elizabethtown-Kitley will be having an open house for the official opening of the new Station #1 in Lyn September 21, 2003.

11.2 New Member - Chief Jim Donovan introduced new member Randi Livius - Elizabethtown Kitley.

Chief Donovan also announced the recent appointment of new captains in Elizabethtown Kitley - Sam Cheikh, Ryan Donovan, Andy Guilboard, Steve Moore, Brian Normandin, Jeff Sargent, Scott Tedford

11.3 Retirement Party - there will be a retirement party for Ed Dempster Gananoque Fire Department September 20, 2003.

12.0 Next Meeting: Tuesday November 18, 2003 - 19:30 hours
Athens Fire Department.


13.0 Adjournment - meeting adjourned at 21:30 hrs
