President James Grant called the meeting to order at 19:30 hours and welcomed everyone. Chief Emeritas James Purcell acted as Secretary for the meeting in the absence of the secretary/treasurer. 9 departments were represented, with 46 members in attendance. Card was being signed for Don White. Books are being audited by Helmer Reddick, Edwardsburg/Cardinal and Brian Normindin, Elizabethtown/Kitley. 1.0 Introduction Deputy Chief Chris Dwyre welcomed everyone 2.0 Guest Speaker D/C Chris Dwyre introduced Tanya Wleklinski from Fire Service Management as the guest speaker. She gave a presentation on bunker gear maintenance. 3.0 Adoption of Minutes The minutes of the January 13, 2009 meeting were read and approved.
4.0 Treasurer's Report Balance of Account - $479.56
5.0 Correspondence Pam Musgrave sent an email from Muscular Dystrophy thank the firefighters and announce the 2009 conference has been postponed to 2010. 6.0 Committee Reports 6.1 Health & Welfare - James Purcell 6.2 Fire Prevention - CFP Wayne Shields, Leeds
and 1000 Islands 6.3 Training -Asst. D/C Charlie Bond, Kemptville Forcible Entry course in Gananoque on March 21, Pump
Course on March 31, Wildfire and Tactics in Kemptville on April
4/5, Traffic Protection for First Responders on April 27 in Spencerville D/C Harold Workman notified a Pump course will be
starting March 31 at E/C Station 1. There is pre course material. 6.4 EMS - No report 7.0 Coordinators Report- D/C Dwyre
Re. Mutual Aid calls. If 3 or more departments are
at a fire, it should be reported to the coordinator. No one has been named yet as Fire Service Advisor.
It may be a while yet. Communication committee meeting on March 12 in Brockville.
Committee is looking at both analog and digital systems since manufacturers
may not support analog technology in the future. Chief Doherty, Augusta mentioned the HazMat vehicle
should be delivered in the next week or so from Invista
No report 9.0 OAFC - Tim Bond Presumptive Liability is on hold. MTO claims - no pay for stand downs. Tim is chairman of committee of Road Safety and Traffic,
next meeting at Brockville Station 2 on April 8th. Also acting as chairman of Fire Prevention Committee
of OAFC. They continue to lobby the Provincial Government for money
for trucks and equipment. 10.0 Unfinished Business: none 11.0 New Business none 12.0 Announcements D/C Harold Workman presented letters of appreciation
to Mutual Aid, Edwardsburg/Cardinal, Leeds & 1000 Islands, Front
of Yonge, Kemptville and Kemptville Ladies Auxillary for their donations
to Camp Bucko. To date they have a total of $6,763. Jason Merkley, E/K announced there will be a fish
fry at Station 1 in Lyn on April 19th Chief Donovan, E/K announced OPP will be doing a Drug
Lab presentation on March 16th at Station 1.
