President James Grant called the meeting to order at 19:30 hours and welcomed everyone. Chief Emeritas James Purcell acted as Secretary for the meeting in the absence of the secretary/treasurer. 9 departments were represented, with 37 members in attendance.

1.0 Introduction

2.0 Guest Speaker

Presenters from FIT 5 made a presentation and played a video on the fire suppression system in use by some departments. Discussed the live fire presentation held in the afternoon.

3.0 Adoption of Minutes

The minutes of the March 10, 2009 meeting were read with 2 corrections and approved.

6.1 Health & Welfare - C/E James Purcell, Edwardsburg/Cardinal

Mutual aid service was held for Don White.

6.2 Fire Prevention - Dave Balderson, Gananoque

Mentioned the smoke alarm program that is coming out in the fall. Dan Connelly, Edwardsburg/Cardinal gave a detailed presentation.

Next meeting is Thursday May 14 at E/K Station #3

6.3 Training -Asst. D/C Charlie Bond, Kemptville

Courses completed were Forcible Entry, Pump Course, Wildfire and Tactics, Traffic Safety.

May meet to discuss future training so check your email. Nothing planned for the summer.

7.0 Coordinators Report- D/C Dwyre

Chief Jones is back working part time after his knee operation.

Introduced Tawnya Roberts as the interim Fire Service Advisor.

March 25th mutual aid call for Elizabethtown/Kitley involved 5 departments. If there are other mutual aid calls please get them in.

June 5th the Health Unit is holding a designated officer course re pandemics and presumptive legislation.

President Grant thanked D/C Dwyre for working on the Mutual Aid budget.

8.0 Fire Protection Advisor Report

Tawnya Roberts spoke. She is the interim fire service advisor. Call her anytime

OFM is working on presenting local training.

9.0 OAFC - Tim Bond

OAFC conference was held last week. Ministry of Labour spoke at it.

There have been 47 fire deaths in Ontario so far in 2009.

MTO modified rules for truck drivers to allow a 2 hour window for a meeting and/or training.

D/C Harold Workman thanked everyone who supported Camp Bucko financially. At the Chiefs conference he presented a cheque in the amount of $10,532 to the Ladies Auxillary. C/E Purcell thanked Harold for his efforts.

D/C Workman announced the Golf Tournament for Camp Bucko would be held on August 29th in Edwardsburg/Cardinal Township.
