President James Grant called the meeting to order at 19:30 hours, with James Purcell acting as Secretary for the meeting. 11 departments were represented, with 55 members in attendance.

1.0 Introduction

Chief Debernardi welcomed everyone and introduced Mayor Ron Holman who welcomed all firefighters to the new fire hall.

2.0 Guest Speaker

The President introduced Pam Musgrave from Muscular Dystrophy Association. She outlined the work that is done by MDA and showed a very moving video. September is MD Awareness month. MDA was formed September 27, 1954. From Apr.1/07 to May 31/08 $2.7 million was raised in Canada. $1,183,000 was from Ontario and of that $997,380 was raised from Boot Drives. Leeds/Grenville raised $46,558, Athens raised over $10,000. Took over $18,000 calls last year and provided families with over $3 million worth of equipment. Pam presented certificates to each department. $1,034,710 has been raised by Leeds/Grenville since we started. She presented a plaque to Kemptville FD for their great contribution over the years.

3.0 Adoption of Minutes

The minutes of the May 13, 2008 meeting were read and approved.

Congratulated Chief Debernardi on the new fire hall

Chief James Purcell resigned as Chief of Edwardsburgh/Cardinal and Chief Tim Bond will be the new chairman of Chiefs committee

Communication committee has met. Planning a new Centra Comm in Brockville in 2009. Each department may have to update some equipment.

HazMat vehicle is to become a county vehicle


8.0 Fire Protection Advisor Report

9.0 OAFC - Tim Bond

Brought greetings from the association
Meeting with MTO about reimbursement to fire departments responding to highway when no services are performed.
Full time firefighters can now volunteer in a strictly volunteer department. This was a resolution passed by their union

10.0 Unfinished Business:

Brian Normandin asked about the status of the county levy. D/C Dwyre will have Chief Jones check with the counties.

Chief Bond announced 5 members from the Kemptville Fire Department will be going to New York to take part in the September 11th memorial

Chief Bond mentioned the Canadian Fire Fighters Memorial will be held this Sunday in Ottawa
Ed Dempster advised if anyone has medals to get repaired, bring them to the November meeting.
